Former Operations and Marketing Manager for Coca-Cola Enterprises, James Street, joins David Wood Baking Group as head of commercial development and marketing

London, UK: James Street, Coca Cola Enterprises (CCE) former operations and marketing manager for London and the South East, has joined leading European baking business David Wood Baking Group (DWB) as its new head of commercial development and marketing.

Street joins the business to support DWB’s ambitious marketing plans as it looks to expand the business into new areas and markets across Europe.

Prior to this, Street worked for over 14 years at CCE, where he assumed a number of roles, including that of jointly leading the business’s Olympic Legacy for London, working closely with London Organisation Committee for the Olympic Games (LOCOG) and leading the company’s sales operations in the South East during the Games.

Commenting on his appointment, Street said: “I am delighted to be joining the team at DWB. The company is incredibly forward thinking and produces a range of innovative and creative products. DWB is not afraid to take risks and push boundaries with its products – driven by the passion of the Group’s founder, David Wood – and I am really looking forward to working with David and his dedicated team”.

The DWB Group was founded in 2008 by David Wood. Having previously set up and run Country Style Foods, Wood sold his 50% stake in the company to invest in DWB. With the proceeds from the Country Style sales, Wood bought an ailing bakery in Sheerness, which he rapidly turned from being in the hands of the receiver to having a £9 million order book.

Over the next four years, Wood purchased a string of other bakeries in similar conditions, turning them all into profitable businesses. This process saw him acquire bakeries in Workington, Scarborough, Dudley and most recently the La Fornaia hand-crafted artisan bakery in London, which he acquired from Maple Leaf.

DWB produces a wide range of quality frozen 'bake off' and craft bakery products encompassing Savoury Pastry, Sweet Pastry, Bread, Morning Goods and Confectionary. The company works with customers to develop products that combine specific requirements and imaginative flair. Working with key partners, DWB has already developed a number of new exciting and award-winning products.

“Street’s innovative strategic thinking, flair for marketing, knowledge of commercial products, and committed style, are just a few of the reasons that I am excited to have him on board. I and the team look forward to working with James to develop and further expand the business into new areas and markets”, said Wood on Street’s appointment.
