David Wood Baking receives double nomination in 2013 Quality Food Awards
Leeds, 20th September 2013 – David Wood Baking is pleased to announce that two of its products have been shortlisted for the 2013 Quality Food Awards. Sainsbury's Taste the Difference Handcrafted Kalamata Olive Ciabatta and Sainsbury's Taste the Difference Handcrafted Half Ciabattas – produced at the La Fornaia bakery in West London – have both been nominated in the Bread Category.
Commenting on the announcement, David Wood, said: “It’s hugely satisfying to see two of our products nominated in the same category of the Quality Food Awards, and in many ways it justifies the investment we have placed in the artisan bakery sector over the past two years. We see this as a key growth area for the future and we currently produce a wide range of quality artisan speciality breads and rolls in our bakeries in Dudley and West London. However, our signature product is unquestionably our hand-crafted Ciabatta, and it’s good to see it receiving the recognition we believe it deserves. Our talented development team are at the forefront of innovation in flavour and consumer trends and continue to raise the bar in retail, and we can only hope that judges at this year’s awards recognise that as well.”
The Quality Food Awards are the most prestigious awards for food and drink products on sale in UK grocery outlets. What sets these awards apart is the impartiality and robustness of the judging process and the invaluable feedback which entrants receive.
The judging panel is comprised of experts from many different parts of the industry including Chefs, Chef Lecturers, Home Economists, Food Photographers, Food Writers, Food Technologists and Regional Food Groups who all bring their knowledge and experience to the debate. The judges take every aspect of a product into account, rewarding great flavours, high quality ingredients, excellent value and outstanding packaging which increases the retail success of a product.
The winners will be announced at a glittering awards ceremony at the Grosvenor House Hotel, Park Lane on Thursday 7th November 2013.
