About David Wood Baking
David Wood, the group founder, comes from a baking family. After leaving college, David joined his parents’ small Yorkshire-based bakery business. Shortly after that, he set up Country Style Foods with them. Under David’s direction, the plant and craft bakery quickly made its name and fortune supplying frozen doughnuts into Europe.
In 2006 David decided it was time to move on, and sold his 50% stake in the business, before taking a break and setting up his current business, David Wood Baking. His industry knowledge and business acumen have allowed David to grow the company quickly to a level where he now owns six sites across the UK and employs over 700 people.
Six of the best
David Wood Baking operates out of six locations in the UK, with facilities in in Sheerness, Scarborough, Dudley, Workington and Peter Hunt’s in Bolton, complementing the group's recent purchase of Creative Foods in Flint.
David Wood sees a strong future in the artisan bakery sector, and we have made massive investment in the artisan facilities at the bakery in Dudley.
